When is the Right Time To Buy a New Home ? I get asked this question frequently concerning real estate in Hubert and Onslow County NC and I understand why.
The news media certainly puts a lot of negative information out there for the general public. In fact, I would go so far as to say that the news media holds an equal amount of power as to how the housing market fairs as does interest rate and the federal reserve.
When housing sales began to slow, the media jumped all over that and repeated over and over how bad sales were, the housing bubble had burst, time for people to get out of the Onslow County, N C housing market and etc., etc. Of course, the public thinks all this has to be true.
Yes, there is some truth there but a lot of the hype was just that--overblown, exaggerated hype. It is my opinion that the housing market would get red hot again if the news media would start talking about increased housing sales, renewed interest in home buying and more positive housing news.
Whether people understand it or not, the housing market affects everyone and their livelihood. You hear people say, I don't work in construction it doesn't affect me. WRONG! It does and in a multitude of ways.
The public needs an education. Perhaps we, as real estate agents, need to take on this responsibility and begin the process of educating our clients.
I know, we have sooo much to teach them already about the real estate business that we don't feel we have the time, energy or perhaps the "interest" to educate them about this aspect of the housing market.
Guess, I'm just blabbering but one thing I know is that the news media affects us in this business more than I like.
Do you like that prices go up or down because of what the media has to say? Do you like that your sales go up or down due to the media? I'm not sure what can be done. Any suggestions?
