 I'm a day late with this post but yesterday was a busy day.  We had brunch with my Mom and Dad to celebrate Mother's Day.  I am so very blessed to have a wonderful, loving and caring Mother and for that I am very thankful.  

  But, this post is not just about mothering it is about the Realtor® Mother.  Not only am I a working Mother, I  am a single, working Mother so my responsibilites and duties are many and varied.   It is  like walking on a tightwire, balance is all important.

I believe being a Mother is excellent preparation for becoming a real estate agent.  Not that I think you must be a mother to be a good agent but think about the similiarities that Mothers and a good agent share:

• Dependability - From the day we give birth to a child, we understand that child depends on us totally to take care of its needs.
  
  Isn't it the same with our clients?  They depend on us to help them buy or sell one of the most valuable and expensive purchases of their life.  

• Trust - Children have complete trust in their Mothers though they may not know what trust is or understand it.  There is no fear that Mother might drop them or forget about them. 
  
  So it should be with our clients though building that trust will be more difficult.  But to have a successful client/agent relationship, trust is essential.
  

• Communication - Communicating with a child is one of a Mother's most important responsibilites.  It is a way of bonding, teaching and preparing that child for life.
  
  Think about it, communicating with clients is one of the most important responsibilities we have to our client.  Clear, precise, honest and regular communication with clients is vital.

To all you Mother/Agents, a belated Happy Mother's Day and I believe your Mothering skills help you assist your clients in a special way.  You have lots of practice in nuturing and multi -tasking and isn't that a big part of your job as an agent?

Yesterday was a wonderful day here in the Hubert, Swansboro North Carolina area.  The sun was shining, not a cloud in the sky and it was gloriously warm!  

A friend and her little one had called the day before and asked if they could come for an overnight visit.  So when we awoke to this divine day, I made the decision to take a mental health day.  

There were many fun things we could have done and you can read about some of them here but for me, a beach girl, the decision was a no brainer!   

I announced at breakfast that we were packing a picnic and heading for the beach to spend the day!  From that moment, it was total chaos and inefficient activity but eventually we got organized, out the door and on our way. 

Take a look at our day and see why I love our Onslow County North Carolina beaches so very much.  Keep in mind  Camp Lejeune and New River Air Station families that Onslow Beach is only a short drive away and a wonderful place to spend a fun and lovely day.   

Come on down the weather is great, beaches are sandy, wide and uncrowded.  I know you will fall in love with our area so let's talk about finding you a home here.

It's affecting everyone all across the country, gas prices that is. No matter whether you own a vehicle or not, you are affected by the ever increasing fuel prices that we are now experiencing.

The cost of food, clothing, housing, travel and pretty much anything you need and/or use, now costs more due to the increase price of fuel.

There are different schools of thoughts how we can lower the cost of fuel and I certainly do not have a crystal ball. I am not convinced that there are any easy answers.
