A Solution to High Fuel Cost for Agents

This morning I was leaving a comment on my friend, Kathy McGraw's blog "Monday Morning....The Pink Big Wheel and Gas Prices" when I thought this deserves its own blog, it's too good not to share.  Well, you be the judge of that.  :0)

As I told Kathy in my comment, I put $150 worth of gas in my vehicle last week and this morning the red "E" has popped up again.  So, what's a girl to do?  What kind of alternative transportation is available?

First I thought,  a scooter....after all, how much gas can that take?  I wonder how many miles per gallon a scooter gets.   Yes, a scooter it is!  Oh boy, what a relief to my bank account that will be.

riding a scooter

As quickly as the idea came,  reality reared its head..... there is no space for clients (or my child).  Well, that will never do.  After all I am a real estate agent and it is the job of real estate agents to drive people around to look at property.

Come on brain, what can you give me here?

The trusty lightbulb in my head illuminates..... what about a scooter with a sidecar?  I could put my clients (or child) in that......now that's an idea!  With the added sidecar and weight, it will take more fuel...  but hey, it's the nature of my business.  I have no choice, I must provide transportation for my clinets.

scooter with sidecar

What?  There might me another problem?  What? Oh........ if the clients have kids? You're right, I don't think clients would agree to leave their kids standing on the curb while we scooted around the county looking at houses.

There's has to be a solution..........I wonder, maybe if I could  hook a wagon  to the back of the scooter? Kids love wagons!

Desperate time call for desperate measures, what do you think?

Recognize Me, Know Me and Trust Me

Yes, I finally got around to it...posting a new photo...that is.  Really, the old ones was not that old (well as  Onslow County Home Specialist Planning real estate agents' pictures go...LOL!), it was taken in 2006. (And BTW, a couple of people have asked about the hand on my shoulder, the photo was of my little one and me, I cropped it to use here)

Today after posting the new photo I started thinking about how very important it is to keep our information and photos current.

Because......

  • I want to be recognized - If someone reads my blog and sees my picture online, when and if I meet them; I want them to know it is ME, Cynthia Tilghman, Onslow County Home Specialist.  I definitely do not want them thinking "is that the same lady whose blog I've been reading, sure does not look like her".  I want them to feel like they already know me and that they can talk to me.
  • I want  consumers to be able to reach me - By telephone, email, snail mail or at my office.  That's pretty much a no brainer, I better make darn sure all those phone numbers and addresses are correct and visible on my website, blogs, emails and business cards.

Last,  but perhaps the most important

These are some of the ways I plan to make sure  all my information is current and available to the Consumer, what will you do?

Hubert NC Kingsbridge Block Party with Neighbors & Clients

I live and work in a wonderful neighborhood in Hubert NC located very near Camp Lejeune Marine Base in Jacksonville.  It sits on the banks of  picturesque Queens Creek and is home to some of the nicest and friendliest people you'll ever meet.

There are actually two adjoining subdivisions, Kingsbridge on  Queens Creek and Kingsbridge II and a new one now under construction Kingsbridge Estates.
Hubert NC Block Party

This past Saturday these two subdivisions joined forces and
held a block party.  It was a great time for neighbors to relax, catch up, eat some delicious food and enjoy each other.

The neighborhood organizers went all out.  The street was blocked off, there was a tent, lots of games for the kids and food, boy was there food!
Hubert NC Neighborhood

There was Eastern North Carolina barbecue (if you've never had Eastern North Carolina barbecue pork, you've missed out on a real treat!) I know about Texas, Tennessee and even other North Carolina barbecue.... but my friends believe me when I tell you Eastern North Carolina barbecue is the BEST!

The side dishes of coleslaw, potato salad, pasta salad, deviled eggs and others which I can't recall at the moment were all delicious thanks to the wonderful neighborhood cooks.

The desserts! Wow, what a marvelous array of cakes, pies, brownies and cookies there were. Who could resist?  Yummy!

Some of us might have skipped the Monday morning weigh-in as a result of the party.

The kids had a blast with the dunking machine, moon bounce and Miss Priss, the clown, was there painting faces, making balloon animals and providing great entertainment for the kids.  There were no bored kids at this party.

I heard many say that they hoped this would become an annual event and I agree.  It was fun to hang out with the neighbors, soak up some rays, chow out and chill out.

Does this sound like like a neighborhood you would enjoy living in? It has everything you are looking.....convenience, lovely homes and home sites, great neighbors and it is affordable.
