I'm very sorry to tell you there is a serious illness in my family.  

The "doctors" tell me it is fatal and death is not far away.   Thankfully there are short periods of time when we are able to communicate and spend some precious minutes together.

But soon we will say our good-byes and my faithful Dell Latitude will go to computer heaven to join others whose work is done here.

 As difficult as it is to say good-bye, those of us left behind must carry on. 

So I have ordered a new Dell Studio, hopefully it will be here by the end of the week.  I pray the Studio will serve me as long and as well as the Latitude has.

Good-bye my friend and companion, I'll miss you.

Summer will be here before you know it and although the kids are looking forward to their "vacation from school", they will be bored to tears very quickly if you do not have a plan.

If you have lived in the Jacksonville, Hubert, Swansboro or other areas of Onslow County for any length of time; you surely know about many of the wonderful events and programs sponsored by the Onslow County Parks and Recreation Dept.    But for  military families who have just relocated to Camp LeJeune Marine Base, New River Air Station or the Naval Hospital at Camp LeJeune, this could be news--good news!

June 9, 10 and 11 at Onslow Pines Park Admin. Office -244 Onslow Pines Road

Registration at Camp Sites: 

Saturday, June 20 9AM to 12:00 Noon

Camp Sites:  

• Summersill Elementary
• Hunters Creek Middle
• Southwest Middle
• Swansboro Middle
• Trexler Middle
• Dison Middle

Ages: 

6-12 Years Old (Must have completed Kindergarten)

Cost: 

1st Child - $55/session

2nd child - $35/session

Dates: 

1st Session - June 22-July 3

2nd Session - July 13-24

7:45AM - 5:15 PM

Yes, Mom it is almost time to register that little one for kindergarten.   If your child will be five (5) years of age on or before August 31, 2009, he/she will be eligible to attend kindergarten.  This is a new date effective for the 2009/2010 school year.

Registration for the 2009-2010 school year is May 11 and 12, 2009. Contact the school in your current attendance area for operating hours. A listing of all Onslow County Schools.

Keep in mind state law requires parents to provide a Health Physical assessment of their child and a record of all required immunizations prior to beginning school.

Your family doctor/pediatrician will assist you with this or you may contact the Onslow County Health Department at 612 College Street, Jacksonville, N C 910 347-2154 for an appointment.

There is always something "tasty" happening in Swansboro North Carolina with all the wonderful restaurants, shops  and water related activities.  However, on Saturday April 18 it will be something a little different.

Swansboro is inviting residents and visitors to "take a bite out of town hall" by hosting the inaugural Taste of Town Hall  Saturday, April 18th sponsored by the Swansboro Area Development  Foundation.

There will be tasty food and delicious entertainment.

I received an email from Zillow this week saying a Consumer had posted a question on one of my listing.  Here is the question the reader asked:

"We just wondered if they were in grave need to sell this and if they would accept the zestimate"    

The listed asking price for this house is $299,500.  Zillow's zestimate is $204,000 to $211,00! 

Where do they get their comparables for my area?   I've done my homework (CMA) and have the figures to support the listing price. 

Is there some wiggle room?  Of course there is..... but not $95,000! 

House prices have fallen in Onslow County, North Carolina like they have all over the country but not that much.  

Back to the question the Consumer asked?  Go back and read it again.....could it be that Consumers do understand that Zillow's Zestimates are not always realistic? 

Perhaps the Consumer is more savy than we give them credit for. 

Take heart fellow Blogger, perhaps our efforts at educating Consumers is not falling on deaf ears after all.
